Tournament Delay Update

B Pool / D Pool Update

As of 5PM tonight the Eagle Disc Golf Course at Olpe Lake was determined to be unsafe for play. The Masters and Grandmasters divisions were unable to complete their rounds.

What’s next?

If Olpe is safe to play tomorrow morning
If the Olpe course is deemed to be safe to play tomorrow morning, the Masters and Grandmasters divisions will complete their suspended rounds on the Olpe course starting at 7:30AM. Players will start the round from their lie when the tournament was suspended. A two-minute blast will be sounded at 7:28AM, with play to start at 7:30AM. These players will proceed to Jones West for their third rounds.  This information has been superseded.

The Intermediate division (Pool D) will play Olpe as originally scheduled with tee times starting at 7:30AM.

If Olpe is not safe to play tomorrow morning
If the Olpe course is determined not safe for play, the B Pool will play Jones West as originally scheduled. The divisions within the B Pool that did complete their rounds at Olpe will have the Olpe round count towards their final score. The divisions that did not compete their rounds at Olpe will not have these scores count towards their final score. This information has been superseded.

Additionally, if the Olpe course is deemed to not be safe for play, the D pool (Intermediate) will not play a final round on Saturday. The final scores for this division would be based on the first two rounds of the event.

An announcement on the status of the course will be made by 6:30AM tomorrow morning. If you have not downloaded the GBO app yet, now would be the time so that you have the most up to date information.

Saturday tee times for the B Pool will be posted for Jones West based on current player positions. Tee times will be adjusted tomorrow based on any leaderboard changes after the suspended rounds are completed.

We were on hole 16 when play was suspended. I had driven, but no one else on my card had. I marked my lie, at the time. However, when the TD informed us that the round was canceled, he said that it would not count. So, I retrieved my marker. Do I try to estimate where my lie was and proceed from there, or do I re-tee?

Estimated best judgement where your lie was.

So let me get this straight. If olpe is not played tommorow— I finished olpe today…my score counts, adding 104 points to my score.Someone who doesnt get to finish ,does not add any score to their score..So, I play 3 rounds they play 2, and you compare scores ? So the 2 round players are going to beat us by 80-100 points. How is that fair ?

The entire division has to complete the round for the scores to count.

You need to re read what you wrote then , because that is not how its stated.

There are many people who are commuting from distance to play. This is going to an undue burden on those people, many who may not know as the round was canceled. Speaking as someone whose round was canceled, you are really screwing those who have already made plans based on a canceled round. Please stand by your original call. Take a poll if you wish, I can tell you 90% or more of the players hate what you are considering.

If you happened to find this post, but did not see the most recent post from the TD, it is confusing. The OTHER post states,

“After additional deliberation, the decision has been made to NOT resume the suspended rounds played at Olpe for the Masters and Grandmasters.”

It appears to me as if the above quote is the current position as of 6:00am April 29, 2016. This post should be taken down IMMEDIATELY to avoid confusion.

Thank you Tim. You make an excellent point. Instead of deleting, for archival purposes, I have edited the information that has become obsolete and also added a link to the new information.

        Hi Admin,

Yes, I agree with editing (and not deleting) the original post and pointing to the updated post. Someone may have had that previous post in their browser “History”. If they revisited the page, they should (would) see the link to the updated, correct information.

Thanks for your prompt response to this rapidly changed situation.

Miss the trees. Hit the putts. Have fun!
